October Monday 19 1863 Pleasant day __ Went down town_ Met Lieut Thomas__ Saw Col [unclear....] visited the picket line took dinner at Genl McArthurs__ Ret'd to camp in the afternoon with Capt McLean__ At night went to Genl McArthur's & accompanied them to the Theatre__ Met Dr Kellogg _ Play ['unclear.."] not very well done__ Felt quite unwell & returned __ Went to bed nearly sick Tuesday 20 Pleasant morning_ In all day spent the whole day in the camp of the Regiment doing little or nothing_- Feeling much better to day Nice! They [unclear] last night of [unclear] Capt James of 72 [unclear] took dinner with us Expedition returned from the Brig Block_ Wednesday 21

Cloudy & threatening a storm  Rode down town with Col Peebles  called on the General at his business Hd Qrs_- called on Capt [unclear..] & took dinner with him & his lady__ At night spent the evening with the Genl & Dr. Kellogg_- Pleasant visit__made written appreciation to  how the Regiment moved to this place Recd a letter from sister Libbie
