Whereas propositions for a treaty, accompanied by an address have been submitted to the Eastern Cherokees by the President of the United States, and the unclear of the people will shortly be taken as to the ratification of the proposed arrangement, and the rights and interests of this nation being affected by said proposals, therefore. Resolved by the Committee and Council in General Council Assembled, that a delegation consisting of unclear Joseph Vann, Sound Chief, John Smith, John Duce, and W. S. Coudy, be and they are hereby appointed to invite the Eastern Cherokees for the purpose of attending to all such matters and business in which this nation may be intenrested; and they are hereby authorized and instituted in the event of an arrangement between the Eastern Cherokees and the United States, to afford such aid as they can, tending to the promotion of the welface of both nations, and if possible, by all proper means to effect a re union of the Cherokee people, to represent the true condition as well as feelings of the Western Cherokees toward their Eastern brothers, and in all things to the governed by a proper sense of the Cherokee Rights and Interests and their own discretion after proper reflection. unclear C.
