Sovell Bend of the Pecos South of Seven Rivers New Mexico April 6th 1880 8.P.M.

Dear Alice, I send this morning by the Sgt in charge of the train returning to Fort Davis - a letter to you 18-20 pages giving some hastily written accounts of our trup from Pecos Falls to Black River - New Mexico - embodying the time from the 1st to the moring of the 6th - this morning.

We have gotten along so far very well and the command is in excellent health & condition.

Lieut Esterly with a detachment of "F" & "G" 10th Cav. had a lively whirl after a party of Indians from Pecos Falls thro' the White Sand Hills.
