The base of the Mountains. On the 9th We encamped about 15 miles farther west and had to take & drive out stock 2 1/2 miles through Canons and over high hills to water. The next day the 10th We moved on about 20 miles & encamped at the first water (om the Stanton Road & Road to Agency) - often unclear -Renegade? - Capt Lebo with his Company got in & joined us a little after dark - after a march of about 120 miles in 5 days - through Guadalupe. He attacked & captured an Indian Camp - on the 9th Killed the Head Chief & captured 4 squads & our Boy Body & secured a Mexican Boy Captive - besi9des 23 head of horses & mules. He destroyed a large amount of food & all camp outfit -
