Dear Sir

    Knowing the interest you feel, in Cherokee affairs, I drop you a hasty line, to inform you of the tragedies which have been acted here, within a few days.
    Major Ridge, John Ridge and Elias Boudinot, were killed on Saturday last. News reached us, yesterday, that Bell was collecting a company, to kill John Ross and Edw? Gunter A large company, collected here, at an hour's notice, and started at full speed to guard Mr. Ross, and another company from a few miles below, went, in like haste, to guard Mr. Gunter. 
    For the sake of humanity, it is to be hoped, the matter will stop here. For there can be no doubt, that should Mr. Ross or Mr. Gunter be killed, the popular fury will burst all the nations imposed on them by the moderation of Mr. Ross, and nothing short, of the utter extermination of the treaty men, will satisfy them.
