3/2 To the Committee and Council In General Coucil Conceived Friends and Fellow Citizens, In obedience to your resolution of the 15th unclear a letter was submitted to Mr Schermeshorn of which you will find a copy answered with his reply accompanying. To the letter, no answer has been given. The reasons for no having replied to it are briefly as follows. unclear of complying with our request to produce his credentials and submit any new inoposition with which he may have been entrusted Sir schermershorn equally inconsistent with himself, and with his duty as a commissioner in the first place endeavvors to prove that you as well as I myself, have unclear the places we hold as representation of the nation; and then implies that he will cease to unclear us as the importors he could prove we are, provided we will exchange our own views of the interests of our constituents, for those which he brings to us; and in the second place departs from the main question altogether by a course evidently inteded to divide the nation against itself, that it may the unclear readily be swayed by dazzling pretences from there in whom it has but too little reason to confide to distrustthe friends and who have been faithful to it through all its trials. The character of this extraordinary production I have considered as so irrelevant and so ungracious to say no unclear of it, that I should regard myself as unclear in respect for our own dignity, to have given it any further notice.
