My dear Doctor:

I was delighted to find your letter awaiting me when I reached home late last Evening. I had been out spending the evening with two friends and returned home about midnight very tired indeed but your letter received immediate attention as I have been looking daily for some word from you and tired, and sleepy as I was I could not defer the pleasure of reading your letter this morning. I was amply repaid for doing so and thank you for your kindly expressions and also for letting me know what Miss Burgess said.
