Thursaday Jan 15th 1863

It commenced snowing this morning early- and continued all day- Mrs Duffield & Mrs Tyler called- It snowed so fast & thick that I made them stay to dinner- Mr A.D. Kunt also dined with us- the snow fell in such quantities as to cover everything with snow I think 7 or 8 inches deep- someplaces it was knee deep- at nineO clock Octave and I went to the Bachelors ball at the Tremont Hotel- we took Fannie Goodwin with us- there was about one hundred persons in the club-we had a fine evening I danced all the time- I met a Mr Gillett of New York .

Friday Jan 16th 1863

The snow has ceased- it is very thick0 sleighs are passing by the hundreds- Sister Virginia & I were invited by Mr Badger & Mr Hunter to go sleighing they brought the large Tremont sleight for us- I was out and could not go- Sister could not go home on account of the tracks being covered with snow- I bought two coral breastpins and sent them to Tuckers children-

Saturday Jan 17-

Still sleighing all the time Sister Virginia boy James has this morning the Mumps- he has taken them from Sheridan- and Sister thinks she has them too- much to my surprise and deep regret I noticed the death in the paper of Clara Wheeler- a young girl of sixteen- who lives near us- she died of scarlet fever- she was a lovely girl her loss will be keenly felt by her family-

Sunday Jan 18-

It is beautiful over head- but the snow is melting fast and it is sloppy- Sister Virginia is a sight this morning from mumps Ada is sick too- I do not know wether she has it or not- all well but the three with mumps- I went with David to Bishop Whitehouse,s church at the West end- was much pleased Mr Badger gone to Unitarian - Sister Virginia & family left for Louisville to night- mumps and all- her husband had to return- Mr Badger gone to night chirch- Clara Wheeler was buried at three O. clock Mrs Mrs Fred Tuttle & Mrs Burton called to day- ( I mean Saturday)

Monday Jan. 19th 1863.

it looks like rain- Miss Morris & Miss Waller came to invite us to Mrs Gilmans to the Grass hopper club- on. Friday- Hannah Keith came to see us- our serving girl- we all well- Ada better to day It rains and we will have to give up the Philharmonic Concert to night- Mr Badger at home- children went down town-

It looks like rain- we all well- Mr L.U. Badger & Octave went to the mite society- Mr Badger did not go to Bitte? class- because I was going out- we have Mr Hunt to dinner every day-
