Feasts _______ Previous to the feast of first fruits, the people of the town assembled at the Town, and seven men were selected to hunt, the seven days previous to the feast, and also seven men and seven women appointed to fast during the same time at the Town house, eating only at night. When the hunters commenced their business, the first deer they shot down, they approached, took out its tongue before touching it in any other place, cut off a small piece of the end, and put it away safely for a burnt offering. On the morning of the 7th day the hunters returned with their meat barbicued, to the council house, where the people of the town also assembled at the same time, each family fetching some of their green fruit, cooked. After depositing in the town house the green fruits, each family took a piece of the meat, brought by the hunters, and returned to their houses. At night all returned and brought the meat without having tasted it, and put it away probably near the first fruits. The priest then proceeded to offer the sacrifice. This was done as follows. The priest always had an assistant called his right hand man. He also had a room for the purpose of offering sacrifice, into which no one must ever enter but the priest and his right hand men. His assistant now swept this room peculiarly clean,
