Pleasant morning as I was expecting a package on from Boston of express. I went down to Arlamos before breakfast. They were not open. So went back again to Hotel and then went down again in the course of an hour or so and after waiting an hour, or more, I received the package. Then returned and had my breakfast.
After breakfast I packed things in trunk and went down to the steamer, The Illinois, with our baggage all ready for the voyage and packed our things. What we encountered in our State Room then The Steamer was now ready to sail. Winslow and I went up in down a short distance and bought a few private shows.
I returned to Roar, but Winslow went up in down to meet Gale Wheeler and they soon returned to Roar and we then examined said shows. It now being about time to start our mad confusion on board. The Wharf as well as the Roar was crowded with people. Passengers and their friends and as the Vale hung for the last time mortifying all that were not going to go. We could leave stares from many many eyes and such parraling seems or seldom, if ever, need.
