 At the time when I wrote the above I was very careful not to say anything against our treatment lest the rebels should take my diary, read it and confiscate it.  But the man, who was in command of Sibby, (Dick Turner I think) was the biggest ruffian I ever saw.  I could not help thinking I was under charge of some old pirate.  When we were searched most of the boys succeeded in hiding at least a part of their money.  Some had large slate buttons on their coats and taking them apart each would very handily hold a $20 note then putting them together the buttons
