Subject: No. 3 War Department, SURGEON GENERAL'S OFFICE, Washington, January 11, 1897. Major W. C. Shannon, Surgeon, U. S. Army, Jacksonville, Florida. Dear Doctor: -- Referring to your application for as change of status to a Southern locality, I have delayed writing to you because I thought it probable that you might pass through Washington and I could have a talk with you about the matter. I view of the advice of your physicians I will ask for your assignment to duty at Jackson Barracks, New Orleans, at the expiration of your leave of absence if you desire this change of station.
