Phillipston Jan 19th 1851

                   Dear Brother
                                         As Mother has left a page I thought that I would write a few lines to let you know how I am getting along. am going to school this winter have Mr. E.S. Fish for teacher  study Arithmetic and Grammar have got to the ? page in Arithmetic, we have had good sleighing  ever since it began on the 7th of Dec. I have been traping this winter have had pretty good luck have catched 3 Rabbits 1 flying squirrel  & red ones and lost one of them. Foxes were very thick around here a hound chased one by here the other day. I expect we shall have rail roads all around nextnews they think of having one through this town. Washington Baker is married to Miss. Harriet Seaduke. We are agoing to have a donation party at Mr. Perkins next week they are going to have for supper tarts doughnuts and lasses cake  do you think that will be nice. I don't think of any more to write now pleas write soon
