My new black girl Laura came and engaged herself to me to day. We have given up William our coloured driver. to night X Hunt had his little birthday party. and had six little candles on his cake. Ice Cream and Cakes. all the family had to come to it. Mr Edwin Hunt died today. 66 years old. Eva finished her rooms to day. Friday Oct 16, 1874 This is beautiful weather we are having, all of us well. Hunt out playing. Belle & Mr Harvey called to see us. So did Mrs Lucien Colby. Mrs Henry Wheeler and Mrs B.M. Mr Angell, Eva & Ada all went in a Carriage to St James church on north side. Mr. Badger and Shreve gone to see Mother Badger. Our new white man named Steven came Saturday. X X to work. Monday Oct 19. 1874 This is a lovely day. all of us well. Belle came up with baby and stayed all afternoon. they talk of going to New York.
