1st Just above the door of the main entrance is a group of Statuary representing the Landing of Enrico in 1620. Passing around the gallery to the right the following representations appear in regular sucession. 2nd Landing of Columbus Oct. 1492. 3rd Embarcation of the Pilgrims from Deft Haven in Holland July 21st 1620. 4th Bust of Hon. Fred P. Stanton, (Horatio Stone Sculpture) 5th Treaty of William Penn 1682 6th Bust of Thadeus Kosciozko. 6th Gen Washington resigning his commission to Congress. Anapolis M'd Dec. 23d 1788. 7th Statue of George Washington with the following inscription: "The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Virginia has caused this Statue to be erected as a monument of affection and gratitude to George Washington who unclear to the endowments of the Hero the virtues of the Patriot and exercising both in establishing the Liberties of his Country, has rendered his name dear to his Fellow Citizens, and given the World an immortal example of true Glory. Done in the year of Christ one thousand seven hundred and eighty eight, and in the year of ht commonwealth the twelfth."
