Moved up to Choctow Bend & overtook the steamers in advance & spent the day collecting Africans of which we have a greatly number already. Good many amusing scenes. Rebels in the vicinity & at night crossed the river for protection Monday, 27 Went back to the other side & spent the forenoon mainly taking on the plunder of the negroes & then moved the river & at American Bend found the other steamers.
