Washington 14th March 1822 Dear Genl Yours of the 12th inst owing to the irregularity of the mail was received only about a week ago. The interruption? of unclear intercourse which has Prevailed between us, to which you allude has not on my part been the result of Prudential motives. My last letter to you was dated I believe some time in Nov. 1820. It was not answered, and I was not certain but that it was offensive to you.
