East Windsor May 8th 1781

Sir

I have lately received a letter from you which acquaints me that you have converced with W. Hubbard and other gentlemen concerning the Hatts which I [{sent?]] you and very Sorry that they did not answer your expectation, was I in my power as it is agreeable to you I should pay you to the unclear of what I received for the hatts, but as I have been building? what money I had is spent that way and therefore I must do as I can, I expect you to except of all of these but those made of the coarse wool, which I think you agreed to when I was at your store as to those of the coarse unclear I leave it with your generosity to do the best you can with them, as to the trimmings they are more others of the same kind of which you have even had? of me when there was no fault found with then I unclear it unclear for me to deduct one quarter from the value of these to have them pass? but necessity obliges me to leave them because I am not able to redeem them, I intend the others shall answer your expectation I did never intend the unclear should suffer by me but was deceived by my workemen as I have told you before unclear unclear I yet mean that they shall if it is in my power consistent? with reason to satisfy them.
