of raspberries and wild currants which grow upon the mountain side. Immediately upon reaching the Summit we killed an immense Rattlesnake of which I secured the rattles and the fangs. After taking notes and sketches of the surrounding country, which was placed before us in every direction as far as the eye could reach, we partook of a lunch, deposited a few lines in a bottle which we secured in the rocks, and leaving other evidences of our visit for this information and edification of curious travellers who may follow us in after years, we descended, reaching the base about one o’clk P.M.
