Fort Gibson C.N. May 14/72 Dear Alice - I have been out calling this morning upon the few Officers and ladies we have at the Post and as I wrote you quit a long letter last night I will give you a short note in passing before jumping into bed. I must write in pencil or not at all as Beck is using the ink and paper on the other side of the house. Mrs ((VanDe Wiele?)) starts for New York to-morrow and the Capt. will march the next day for the north part of the Cherokee & Osage Country - Nothing special
