My Dear Alice, I wrote you quite a full account of my trip up to the time of leaving the Guadalupe Mountains, but have found unclear very little time to write since.
I left Lebo's Camp at about 2. P.M. on the 27th Oct. The night before leaving it had turned suddenly cold. & in the morning it was snowing & sleeting Not enough to cover the ground but sufficient to make a thick fog or mist so dense as to completely shut off from view the mountains at the base of which we were encamped. Just as we were pulling out, the cloud or mist broke away & even
