My Dear Alice, I wrote you quite a full account of my trip up to the time of leaving the Guadalupe Mountains, but have found unclear very little time to write since.

I left Lebo's Camp at about 2. P.M. on the 27th Oct. The night before leaving it had turned suddenly cold. & in the morning it was snowing & sleeting Not enough to cover the ground but sufficient to make a thick fog or mist so dense as to completely shut off from view the mountains at the base of which we were encamped.
