the 10th Cavalry to the vicinity of the proposed new Post on [?Cashe?] Creek. We have had very unfavorable weather for the last week and the roads are bad and the streams up - but I think the Washita will be down by to-morrow so that we can cross & move south where we can get good grass for our horses - Supplies from Fort Arbuckle have been delayed on account of the bad roads, and forage is therefore very scarce. We hope soon to have another sight of the sun. A few days sunshine will dry up the roads warm & cheer up the troops who are literally sunk or stuck in the mud. Sleeping in damp or rather wet beds is not very pleasant - the water ran through and under our beds night before last and we had just to "let it went" and make the best of it until morning.
