in great numbers and invited us up to the village - being the 4th, we fired a salute from the field pieces - had Cannon races & e & e - I gave the Indians some tobacco & hard bread and they had a grand feast on the beach - all went as merry as a marriage feast until 9 OC o'clock?? ?? where went for Lotho? - arrived there the next morning - it was a clear day & the glaciers here were grand. The Indians soon responded to our signal gun & came in their canoes from all directions - They too said they were glad to see the "Boston Man's Tyce??" I
