My Dear Ann,

I can inform you that my health still continue good, and fondly hope this may find you enjoying the same. - We are still laying up, anxiously waiting to go on the Dry Docks, But at present cannot say when we shall be able to get on, as they seem to be so very slow with the Boats that are unclear on the docks. However I am in hopes of getting on within 5 or 6 days from this time, as we are entirely idle until we can get on the docks, so as to go ahead with our repairs.

    This morning about daylight I was awaken by the cry of fire, and immediately unclear, and looking down the unclear amongst the great number of schooners that are generally moored at the landing, I saw quite a conflagration, and as I progressed near it, soon ascertained that was the great and splendid steamer "Missouri". She was cast off from where she was laying along side other Boats, and shoved off in the river, But she soon grounded on the Bar
