Sisters & Nephews: I am reminded that it is Friday & that a letter written today will in all probability - reach you before Sunday. I suppose Jack's school is nearly out for the week & that he will soon be wending his way home. Wish I could do so as easily. Has Sarah been able to ride out much this week? Is she gaining much in flesh? I wish she could get down the juice of two pounds of beef daily, & Anna too. It would not not S. get A. down but A get the beef down!
Flipping the page horizontally, several more lines have been written, likely a continuation of lines from a previous page as she mentions a 6-page letter: Now dear ones Are not six pages enough? I wrote to John today, sending him some medicine [illegible]. [Illegible] written to his father? Have not been to Ann-[?] ellen [?] yet wonder what kind of a place it would be for practice. It is [illegible] and I think about 10 miles from Plainfield Much, much love from Mary
