My Dear Alice

The mail comes in again to- morrow morning, when I hope to hear from you again. I feel very lonely and to keep off the blues, I thought I would commence a letter to you to- night. The mail will have been Sunday morning - just after writing to you Wednesday morning. My Tent took fire at the side of the chimney + in putting the fire out I burned my hand rather severely - the injury is not serious however! altho the skin will come off in places. I had at the time only the little pitcher partly full of water in the tent - and consequently had to fight the fire with my feet + hands. I commenced work to
