Camp Witchita ?.. .. March 31, 1869

My dear Alice,

The mail this morning brought nothing for me from Gibson. I received your letter of the 14th from Mr. [Colleyer?] who arrived Monday noon.

Captain and Mrs. A. got here Monday 

evening just after dark. I received from Captain le Chaplain [?...] letter of the 18th. We are greatly in need of rations for the troops. And unless the prospect for a supply brightens, I will have to start a courier through to Gibson We are entirely out of flour and hard bread and very little hope of obtaining any from
