it is their duty to love t brethren of wh. he is one, this is a motive wh. almost infinitely ought to exceed his own private happiness, although his private happiness might be one motive. Another motive why t. christian disires t love of all men, is that all men might be happy in unclear t. excellency of religion t unclear of wh. would consist in their loving him aught. Moties of this kind might be multiplied without end: they help in t take up t idea how it becomes t christians duty & nateral for him to desire t. right kind of love of all men & as he decides this he is to set t example in loving all men, as he loves hims. & this is t rule wh. is t law & t ppts. Nothing else is X But again let it be noticed that for a christian to love all men as he loves hims. does not guide him to love all men in all respects alike for instance: It does not guide him to take delight & complacency in those who appear to be enemies to G. he cannot love them
