These, extended as far as the eye can reach, present a pleasing contrast to the opposite shore -- Anon we shall see neat farmhouses & villas perched upon the commanding eminences where now the eagle soars & the buzzard flaps his murky wing - Nature seems to have prepared this land for the husbandman, cleared open fields for his grain & cattle, & scattered forests crossed out: & lakes for his buildings, fire-wood & game & for his food & recreation provided lakes well stocked with fish -- while the air seems pregnant with health & vigor.
