Freeman wishes me to thank you for the papers you sent. We received the Fairhaven? papers this A.M. Last week I had a letter from one of the ladies at Ft. Custer saying that the 17th Infantry (four companies) were ordered away from there and were going to Fort Russell unclear unclear. After disposing of all their household goods and being all ready to go, the order was countermanded and they remain. So a lady from there told me yesterday. Quite a dilemma right in the heat of the season. I am sure I have tried your patience with this long letter. I hope Eliza is better.
