Local. Seizure. The Steamer Alseander owned by the Messrs, Hutchinson & Co., was seized by the Acting Collectoer Mr. G. Forsyth on the 10th inst. The owners however having given the necessary bonds, she was allowed to proceed upon her voyage to Kodiac, The particulars we forbear to dwell upon, for want of space.

Salute. In compliance with an order recieived at Head Quarters a Salute of thirteen guns at sunrise was fired, and one gun each half hour during the day; at Sunset. /13th inst./ thirty seven guns were fired in honor of the death of the Ex President James Buchanan. The Saluting was ably conducted by Battery ?H.D.U.S.? Arty, under the Command of Brt. Lt. Col. Wm. N. Dennison.

Room Warming. Mr. Hutchinson having moved into his new rooms last Tuesday gave the customary Room Warming, to wich was introduced friends & Champagnes in liberal quantities.

Capt Ge; H. Dimpfel will act as Ast. Quartermaster here, until Col. Weeks shall return from Kodiac, to where he had already started, to attend a Court Marshall there.

Sickness. It is sad to witness the number of funerals, that take place here. It is principally confined among the russians. As many as four persons have been consigned to the Grave Yard on a single day.

Departure. The Steamer [?Mer?] from Victoria sailed on the 15th inst. intending to call at the[?Stick..?] and Fort Simpson on her way down. The Nor Wester also cleared on this date for Chil bat under the command of Bendell with goods from the well known firm of Storer & Co. intending to trade with the Indians at that place.

The Steamer Alexander having reloaded and again prepaired for sea broke her moorings, taking the Schooner "John Bright" in Tow, the latter bound for San Francisco.
