86 56 DAVIDSON, Col. Commd'g. Fort Sill, I.T. [left margin] January 22. 1874. Colonel J. W. Davidson, 10" Cavy., Commdg. Fort Sill, I. T. Dear Colonel,

The parents of a young lad named Antonio Lorenz have been to see me this morning to ask my aid in Endeavors to find his whereabouts. He is believed to have been taken by a band of Indians that were on the upper Guadalupe in October last. The lad disappeared on the 15" October 1873 from out on his father's ranche, on the dry Salado.
He was then nine years old, has a mark or depression on the outer edge of the right Eye - a scar on the left upper side of his hand - and also a scar on his left root - from the cut of an axe. Will you be good enough to communicate with the Indians Agents at your Post and at the other Agencies within your reach, and desire them to take measures to ascertain if such a boy is with any of the Indians under their supervision, will you notify me of the result?
                                                                        I am, respectfully
                                                                        Your obdt. servant
                                                                  (Sgd) C. C. Augur
                                                                             Brigadier General U.S.A.
                                                                             Commanding
