                        Your letter of June 24th. has been received and I am directed by the Commanding General to say, that he regrets he has not troops available for the purpose asked.
                        All the troops, that could be spared from the Posts, have gone with Colonel MacKenzie after Indians in the Northern part of the State, and it is believed that his operations will relieve the frontier-settlers from Indian-troubles more effectively than in any other way.

          I am directed by the Commanding General to say, that he desires you to proceed to Fort Gibson as soon as possible.
          As there are no funds on hand, to enable you to pay your indebtedness at Galveston, you will have the proper Vouchers made to cover such indebtedness and forward them to the Chief Quartermaster of the Dept., who will pay them as soon as in funds, or arrange for their payment by the Quartermaster General.
