from General G. M. Dodge, requesting an issue of arms &c., to one of the surveying parties of the Texas Pacific R. R., under his charge.
I enclose an order to the Ordnance Officer here to issue them arms &c., therein specified. Not having received anything further on the subject, I desire to know, if any authority for gratuitous issue has been given by the Secretary of War, or if I am to have a bill made out, for these arms &c., and collected, as in case of other stores for the surveying parties.
