I am directed by the General Commanding to inform you, in view of the fact of the building at Ringgold Barracks being nearly completed, and that it is doubtful, if any further building at all is attempted at Fort McIntosh: - that you are relieved from the duty, assigned you in the letter of the Chief Quartermaster of the Department, dated August 6. 1871, in connection with Government buildings at those posts. You will please report to these Headquarters the actual condition of affairs, in connection with public buildings at Ringgold Barracks and Fort McIntosh, as far as your supervision of the same is concerned. You will also forward all plans of buildings, stables, corrals, &c. completed, or in process of building at those posts, under your supervision, with copies of all instructions, agreements and contracts, now in force and relating to them. You are desired at the same time, to forward any views or suggestions in relation thereto, that be of assistance in the faithful performance of the work. Very respectfully Your obdt servant
