It is necessary that you be retained as at present, until such time as the law officers take action, which - it is presumed - will be an an early day, and when any opportunity will be afforded for your defense. Meanwhile, if there is anything the General can do, consistent with his authority to amelioriate in any way your condition, he holds himself ready an any moment to do it.
