La Porte, Ind. March 7th 1864

My dear good Wife,

I was very much disappointed this morning in not getting a letter from you. The last letter I received from you was written two weeks ago to-day & reached me one week ago this morning. I do not like to have such long intervals between your letters. You are not well & "Ba" is very sick & Eddie is quite unwell hence you can form some idea of how anxious I am to hear from you often. I know it must be hard for you to write me long letters when you are broken so much of your rest & are so unwell & get so tired & I am not selfish enough to desire it, but I would like to have you write often a few words of love & let me know how you

(along the side) I wrote you yesterday a long letter & sent it over in this morning s mail where {?} Charles & wife now.
