Chicago Board of Trade Battery in Camp at Huntsville Ala December 1st 1863
My dear Mother,
Your long letter of November 19th was received two or three days ago, but being busy making comfortable quarters I have not taken time to answer it before now. The Cavalry Command came to this place from Maysville, 14 miles from here a week ago to-morrow.
Since we arrived here every man has been busy preparing what we expect and hope will be our winter quarters. And now if you could but enter our Camp which we have not been in a week yet. you would be astonished [to?]
