Camp Shaeffer, Murphreesboro Tenn May 21, 1863

Dear Aunt:-

I take my pen in hand, on this beautiful morning, to let you know how I am getting along in camp life. Last night we received orders to be ready to march at a moment's notice, which, together with previous orders, would seem to indicate a movement in some direction soon; "rumor" says to reinforce Grant, also to Tullahoma.
