Woodburn Jan 8th, 1866, Dear Son, Your letter written on Christmas day was duly received and why it is that my letters do not reach you more promptly I do not know, yours seem to come direct to us I presume ere this you have received my letter containing an account of poor Eugenies death which occured on the morning of the 26th I was very sorry to hear of Kuthannes death takeing place as it did too makes it seem more sad and it melancholy enough at best to think that the young and fair so soon must pass away.
