Friday 19  After breakfast we

set out, pursuing our course up the river- with several others I went in advance of the waggons - Saw several large white wolves- who ? in a few miles we came up with several herds of Buffalo- Col. R. ? + MB gave chase + killed one- After waiting some time for the waggons to come up, we returned three or four miles + found the main party had encamped- one of the mules having been badly bit by a rattle-snake
