In the number of the tribune of the
27th inst. I see some remarks on Oregon in which you speak of the "compilations of Messrs Farnham- Greenhow, Falconer and others." Now as I have made no "compilation" upon the subject of Oregon, that is to say no collection of papers, and documents other than that annexed to my history of Oregon and California and as you moreover speak of your having for the first time found the treaty of the Escurial, in Wilkes' book, I am led to suppose that you have never seen my history -- I am not as yet informed, whether any copies of it are on sale in New York, or whether the copies which I derived to have sent, to several newspapers - the tribune in the number - have been received by my friend Mr ? Hunt, to where? they were to
