Nov 8th Dear Sister I have not had a letter from home for nearly three weeks, presume they have gone out to the Head Quarters of the Corps, and it may yet be some time before I receive them. You will see by the heading of this letter that I have been in the Provost Marshal office, last night I was on guard in the office and for the want of any paper, or any money to buy with I appropriated a few sheets of Uncle Sams. Our Regiment is split all to piecies doing Provost duty through the City. Companies A and G are at this place guarding [begin vertical writing] Rescarra Haglang has been reduced to the ranks.
