letterhead typed in blue Henry Goodman Gin pencil

                                                                   3325 Farragut Road, Brooklyn, N.Y.
                                                                                                                                               December 8, 1928
                   My dear Mr. Anderson,
It is with great trepidation that
I write you again, Mr. Anderson, as you will
probably wonder what new request I am about
to make. It was my hope, when I wrote
you for permission to use "Just Walking,"
that there would be no further need of
troubling you. It now develops, however,
that my choice of that story is less
suitable for a college text than would be,
for instance, your story "What Makes
                  a Boy Afraid?"
I have taken the liberty of
substituting the latter story for "Just
Walking," before consulting you as the
book was being held up, and because I
hoped you would not take amiss my
acting before I could get word to you.
I do trust you will not be
offended. If I do not hear from you
I shall take it that you do not
                 disapprove.
                                            Very sincerely yours,
                                                Henry Goodman
