6 I know you will despair of me & think I am at the poles from the great concept of pure art. I know that in much of your writing - especially within recent years - you tried to reach the purer realms of painting. Myself, I think you are at your greatest in stone, like unused, where you show yourself the naked warrior against our devilish destruction of human souls. I think you make a big mistake in disowning this essential part of your nature - you can kill it only at a great loss to yourself & to others. Why theorize oneself into a specialist, when one can be a human being? I do not believe that bad art is propaganda, but I do believe great art can be the expression of the highest human ideals.
