12-26-'52 Dear Jack -

This hasn't been a very good year for us either. Doubleday turned

down what I consider my best book. x - THE RAPE OF ELIZABETH I am now shopping around. Two of my friends who also read it thought it the best too. I am broke - Though I have a fellowship in the making. I often think of you - Mark Harris and I always talk about you. If the fellowship comes through I intend to visit Chi. (Newberry Library) and will see you then.

 Sincerely, Fred
