struck it rich what with the Book Find Club's cooperation.

Yep, I got back from Kenyon and boy, was that place off the ground. Almost went nuts reading Dostoevsky for Philip Rahv. It was interesting, though, too. Rahv thinks I should do criticism, but I don't want to - much.
Tell Nelson from me he has yet to learn interviewing etiquette. That story in the New York Times Book Review made him look dumb. Never, never compare the illustrious ancients with guys writing today. Always be duly respectful toward the classics. Compliment the contemporaries as much as you like, but double underline: never put them invidiously beside Hawthorne or Melville. It won't do the contemporaries any good and it just does the interviewer a lot of harm. I wish he would be a bit more cautious in his statements. He rushes in where angels fear to tread.
Have a good time. I shall have to drop in on you some time, Jack. I'm honestly sorry I won't be seeing you.

My best, Janice
