Words for a Season in black ink (for Wystan) O bells that tell of a Word, may your music be heard and may your mythic Child relate to every hope-hungry man the logical good of your plan!

O word, and all clear words on white, like tracks of birds on drifting heathen snow, please guide our going as we go from season to unknown season through climates of untamed reason, wandering in the wilderness of lesser words than love .

Home

                                          1.

Centered in this woodland hamlet Our clipboard cottage looks through trees at Niebunts' dove-coted house where Eliot, Auden, Spender and peers indulged weekends of words.

The past is a cogent antique here, the future an uncomputed fantasy as I revel in present family, and hobnob with accomplished ghosts.

                                      2.

These wooden walls and wide-eye windows, these wide-plank floors beneath our feet, these doors that stare at facing doors this roof that fends the wind, the snow and rain--- We call it Home, this mortgaged muse's manse!

O pert toyhouse on a puritan hill, last stop, snugbox, embrace us until earth clods drum down upon the lid!
