the latter our gun being left to guard Bowling Green. Next day Friday we also were ordered to march for N -, and accordingly started at 12 M. We marched till 9 o'clock P.M. arriving in Mitchellville 27 miles from B.G. and camped for the night in a shoe shop. Next morning we resumed our march, and went 30 miles, within 6 miles from Nashville. Here we camped for the night, and next morning (Sabbath) we joined the other 2 sections of the battery.
Our battery it is said now is on Genl Rosecranz staff with a regiment of regulars. How long we will remain here I do not know. Since we came here, I have met a number of my old acquaintances
