Dear S.A. I have meant from the minute I read your letter about the $200.00 painting to say "yes" and send a check but have allowed other things to block me from writing earlier. Please try not to select for me any thing "too utterly utter" as they used to say. I am keen for modern art- also for helping living men?. But so much of the "modern" work seems to be based on a complete disregard of all of the things which usually (or formerly) we were supposed to like. There is any quality of "modern" work now, both European and American, which is 100% new school and yet avoid being too wild and extreme and
